The Gem City Jazz Cats will be back at Rock of the Foothills for a ‘Summer Swing’ concert and recording session on Sunday, August 18, 3 to 5 PM in the sanctuary.

The band, based out of Monrovia – the ‘Gem City’ – features two former members of the outreach band, One Measure. Ron Towles will be on trumpet along with our own Jim Johnson on vocals.  Also in the band is another Rock member Dwain Dobbe. Dwain also plays trumpet in the big band. This band is comprised of many fine musicians from all over Southern California. It promises to be a fun event! If you like the big band swing music of old played in the present, come out and enjoy a summer swing afternoon!

The concert is free and there will be a goodwill offering collected during the event. Proceeds from the offering will be designated for the Rock of the Foothills choir music and choir special musicians. It’s a very special thank you to Rock from the band for some facility use for rehearsals and all the support from church members over the years!  Invite your friends and join us!
